The power just went out for several hours, and when it came back on, my APC Back-UPS Pro 500VA gives off a continuous, solid, annoying, long tone. There are no lights on at all, and pushing the buttons doesn't do anything. The unit is completely unresponsive! But here's the crazy thing. I unplugged the entire unit from any source of electrical power, and the long tone remains! It is driving me crazy. How can I stop it???

When the beep starts the unit stops providing power and green led is not flashing, it's always on! Maybe a fuse that needs to be replaced? I tried to use only the surge protection side with power button off and everything works fine, so I guess there's something wrong with the battery management...

Eric,
To help you with the annoying sound, kindly disconnect the battery from the UPS. Do you have any idea how old is the UPS? Have you ever replaced the battery on your unit? What's the condition of your battery?

Hello, same problem here. The unit (ES-700VA), on the battery backup slots protects computer, router and tv + sat decoder. It randomly stops working, I tried disconnecting everything from the battery backup side and sometimes the unit stops beeping, but there's no response from the power button, even if I disconnect it from the wall socket. It makes a long continous noise that becomes scratchy after a while, then stops itself. I successfully replaced the battery with a new and original one, but nothing changes. I don't think the unit is overloaded because I used it normally for over 2 years with the same configurations without problems. My UPS is 4 years old at least, is there any solution? Any help would be really appreciated, thanks in advance!

DVD,
Does the unit still provide power while it emits that continuous beep? Any LED that is flashing?
