APC Back-UPS ES500 shuts down itself and releases beeping sound.

Hey guys,
Ive been using this model for almost 2-3 years now and this is the first major problem ive faced. I was playing my Ps3 earlier (ps3 and tv connected to the Back UPS) and suddenly it just switched off and released a beeping sound until i press and hold the power button,to turn it off. I tried again and the same thing happened for another 2 times. Ive afraid to use it again because the automatic shut downs may damage my Ps3. I didn't even know there was a special battery in it (yes i know, what an idiot, lol) but based on some searching i did,it could possibly be a problem with the battery. Am i right? Any idea whats wrong?
Thanks in advance πŸ™‚

This is the number on the sticker behind the unit :BE500r-AS

Thank you for your reply Clarkson.

This is how it happened the first time and subsequently :
I was playing the ps3 for not more than 15 mins when the Back-UPS (herein after referred to as the unit) suddenly just turned off. My tv went off and ps3 went off at the same time. It happened as if there was a black out. Immediately after the unit 'crashed',there was a loud permanent beep. No pattern to the beeping, just a long beep until i press the power button to turn it off.

As far as i remember, there was no light on the LED when it turned off and started beeping. Even after i press the power button, there was no light but im guessing thats because the act of pressing the button was to turn it off.

I dont really think there was any power fluctuations but something weird happened earlier when i decided to just try it on. I turned on the unit, and this starts the TV as its directly connected. I left the tv on standby with the unit on for 2 hours and everything was fine. Then i turned on the ps3 after 2 hrs,and within 5 mins the unit crashed. That should really give an idea of whats wrong, significantly narrowed down now πŸ™‚

Paltimes,

Do you have any software installed on your PC? Aside from the beeping sound and flashing green LED, did the UPS dropped its load? Have you tried doing a pull plug test to see if the UPS would have sufficient run time to support the equipment connected on the battery side? Based from your description, it appears that the UPS is showing the Low Battery Warning condition. It could have been caused by the UPS switching to On Battery state due to power problems such as over/under voltage, black out, frequency out of range and total harmonic distortion.

Low Battery Warning: While Operating On-Battery, the UPS has reached the default 2 minute Low Battery condition and will soon shutdown. The 2 minute Low Battery condition can be adjusted through PowerChute Personal Edition to give the customer more of a warning of impending shutdown. This graceful shutdown will occur automatically if the APC management software is being used.

Oh okay, but the problem is,im here in Malaysia and i dont think there's any APC 'HQ' here. I bought the unit when i was buying my computer. The shop sells computer equipment and such and i saw this product and decided to get it. I dont think i even have the box/receipt... Is there anything i could do in this situation :S?

My Back-UPS ES500 releases beeping sound with green light flashing. What's wrong it it and what do I do?

MODEL BE500R-PH
SERIAL NUMBER 5B0710T18354

It's five years old, and this is the first time it did what it does. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
