I have had an exchange of emails with sales@apc to try and discover if the drivers and back up software supplied with the ES700 will work on XP Pro x64. Frankly I have made no progress and wonder if I am actually exchanging emails with a bot.
All I want to know is if the USB drivers and Powerchute s/w will work on XP x64.
Does anybody know the answer? The value of a UPS is reduced substantially if automatic shutdown won't work. I planned to buy this unit but if support is so bad before I buy it then I don't have much confidence of after sales support!

Many thanks for that, I had no idea that I could do that in power management - I just tested it with my old Belkin UPS and with no additional drivers installed all the shutdown options are there!
That's a real eye opener, thanks again 🙂

Jeff,
The USB drivers for the UPS are built into the XP OS. There's nothing special about them. Therefore, as a PNP device, if you use the UPS with Power Options within the Control Panel, you receive the same graceful unattended shutdown, just without the bells and whistles brought forth by PCPE. As for compatibility, if you can run it in 32-bit mode, I believe you should be all set. I am not 100% positive if it will run in 64-bit mode on its own.
