APC Back UPS Bx1100c-in fan runs when main power is active

Noticed a weird thing with my ups today. Its fan started spinning outside of the battery backup/post shutdown cooling stage mode. Previously it only spun up when the ups was in backup mode or was cooling off after being on for sometime but now intermittently it turns on the cooling fan when mains is switched on, it didn't do this before. The fan shuts off after ~4mins.

This happened today once or twice and then went back to as it was on day 1.

Is this an feature or rather a bug or fault in the sensor?

Everything else works fine including backup and other things

Its winter here now and temps have dropped quite a bit, don't think the ups needs to cool off a already cool UPS.

  • Hello there, I am using the same UPS. Its fan keeps running all the time when its turned on. I tried removing some load off it but still it runs continuously. Temps are low too now due to winter, dont know what's the reason for fans running. Its just a month old UPS so I dont think battery is an issue. Can you help me on this?
