APC BE325R alarm doesn't shut up after power resumes

I have two APC BE325R. About once a month I loose power for about 1/10 second at home. The UPS I have connected for the entertainment center works fine. The one connected for the computer doesn't shut up. The alarm goes on and stays on, until I turn it off. There is power at the wall outlet because the devices plugged into the "surge only" socket are on.

This is very frustrating. The sole purpose of purchasing the UPS was to prevent my computer and dvr from powering off unnecessarily. Now I have to turn off the UPS manually every time the power blinks, the same results as if I didn't have the UPS.

Any suggestions?

By chance, did you purchase them at Fry's Electronics?

I opened up the unit and popped the speaker off the circuit board. Problem solved. Of course, I am not recommending that anyone else try this, because if you dont know what you are doing you could brick it, electricute yourself, or burn your house down.

I am having the same issue. There is a clicking noise which I assumed was going to and from battery power and then the APC be325r just has a constant ringing sound that doesn't stop. Besides taking out the speaker is there any other way to just tell it to stop with the ringing noise?

Thank You.

Clicking is normal, constant tone isn't. There's probably something else going on, like a replace battery alarm or something, since the 325s are older and discontinued. See if there are any LEDs lit up or flashing - and are you using the PowerChute software?

Yes the green light is lit the whole time the ringing is going on. It doesn't flash or anything. As for software I have no idea what I am using if any. I just took it out of the box and plugged my PC, Monitor, router, modem, and printer into it.

Sorry, Forgot about this post.
Bought these at CompUSA sometime before they tanked (RIP)
Great Idea about ripping the speaker out. I would assume that leaving them in a constant alarm state with speaker removed would present no danger to ups, equipment or user.

Come to think of it, I don't believe that unit actually came with any software compatibility anyway. Solid green LED sounds like normal operation though so... something in there isn't quite right.

When the alarm goes on, its solid, not a beep.

There is only one LED, inside the power button, on the top center of the unit. When the alarm goes on, the LED is on solid, it does not blink.

On the UPS that is exhibiting the alarm after power resumes, what is the serial #?

What does the alarm sound like that is coming from the UPS? Does the 4 beeps/30 sec. continue or is it a different sound?

Is the green LED on the UPS flashing or solid, and are there any other LEDs lit on the UPS?

What kind of load/equipment do you have attached to the battery outlets on the BE325R?

I bought 3 of these on sale. Every couple of weeks they emit this continuous tone with flashing green power button. Powering cycling the ups is the only way to shut it up. They have all done this since they were new. Not too big a deal for the two hooked up to the computers. But the one hooked up to my two dvr's is really annoying because it usually goes off while one dvr is recording. This means I have to interrupt my recording by power cycling the ups hence rebooting the dvr (3-5 minutes lost recording) or just put up with that awful whine for an hour while trying to watch tv. This model is definitely not recommended for a dvr. Since all three do this I would have to assume it's a hardware bug with no fix. By the way, all three carry loads less than 200 watts according to my kill-a-watt meter.
