as the title says i have a BX1500LCD serial num 8B0830R43031 on vista purchased on nov 4th 2008 or abouts
vista home premuim 32 fyi
i was getting the unable to communicate ballon with powerchute personal edition 2.1.1 so after reading this forum i uninstalled and installed the beta 2.2 version for vista.
i am still getting the unable to communicate ballon although so far not as often..
is there any cures for this and if not should i just unistall the software?
if i unistall the software will does vista have any options to power down if on backup power?

i have not sent in a support ticket as yet but will soon as i finish this post.

Thanks for updating us. I'm sorry to hear PowerChute didn't work out well for you, but glad to hear you had success with Vista's native support. We will continue to give you updates as we have them available. 😉
Thanks

Hi:
I haven't personally heard of any communication issues with that unit on that version of PowerChute. Have you tried different USB ports? I can check with some folks tomorrow to see if I can find any other advice, though.
To answer your other question, though, Vista does have native support for USB, which also works pretty well. You can access this through the Power Options in your Control Panel.
Thanks.

actually in the other threads related to this issue (on this forum) several others with this model including the BR version posted having issues the same.
i definetly tried everything that was posted on the forum in vain 😞 tried all usb ports etc... the software reduced the amount of ballons but didnt stop 😞
i contacted support and they also suggested using native usb in vista..
for anyone trying to attempt that here is a few tips if you have installed the apc powerchute software.
at least in my case i had to do this to get it to work
1. unistall the powerchute software
2. delete any reference to iconstreams and pasticonstreams in the reg file. (power icon was disabled this helped with that although might just be optional)
3. go to device manager and unistall the apc driver (make sure to have it delete it, see check box otherwise it will just reinstall that driver upon reboot)
4. reboot and battery icon will show up (if not check task bar notification area to see if power icon needs to be checked agian)
*make sure that in the device manager its showing "HID UPS Battery and the Driver is provided by Microsoft"
once you have this accomplished right click the battery icon for options, you will have alot more options now then with the powerchute installed.
hope this helps someone
p.s support was very fast at getting back to me.
on a side note i hope APC can sort out this issue its not so bad for me having the lcd model but still was nice to have software features right there.
