Hello All
First time here, thinking of getting the above for my home PC.
In the last few weeks we've had power outages almost every day now. Some last for a few hours, some last only a 'blink' of the eye. But, every one of them forces a hard shutdown of the PC. On another forum I was advised to get a backup battery system for the computer and APC was recommended.
Been reading the user manual and some of the posts here and have what is probably a real silly question, but:
I understand that the backup unit is plugged directly into a wall AC outlet....then the PC, Monitor are plugged into the backup unit battery outlets and other devices (printer, etc) are plugged into the backup unit without the backup power. However, on one posting (that I can't find now) it was mentioned that the unit plugs into the computer via USB port (for use with the software?) and then from the computer to backup unit again via RJ something cable. OK, I'm not sure if I follow. I have what looks like a phone cable that runs from the router upstairs into the back of my computer. This is how I get the internet access. There is only one of these outlets on the back of my computer. If the backup unit has to be plugged into this outlet, then I won't be able to connect to our router upstairs? My computer is too far away from router to be able to use WiFi.
Thanks in advance for your time and help. And I apologize if I don't make much sense, but all this is new to this older computer user.
Barb

You can connect a usb cable from the computer to the back up to install software This is not required and may not be necessary for you. The unit works 100 % without the software. This unit also has data line protection which again, is a feature, not a requirement. This allows you to protect your ethernet or phone line from surges.
