750G issue.

Hi all,

i know there has been much discussion of the relay clicking on ups devices. Mine is a little different. It only cycles the relay when the computer is awake and being used. It's like the computer is running off the battery and the battery is constantly being discharged/recharged every 5-10 seconds. When the computer is asleep, the device is silent. What am I missing here? I'm using a dell optiplex 3040 with an i5 processor. It's my wife's work machine (she's a CPA) and the noise is unacceptable.

Any thoughts?

I agree that you may wish to have an Electrician observe the issue. It may be a matter of an Overloaded electrical circuit, in which too much equipment is sagging your line.

As for the Green mode, you can find information related to this in your User manual. This function is meant to help conserve energy by eliminating all power draw from Non-Linear loads.

Hello Frank,

Aside from the relay clicking, are you hearing the UPS making any noise? If you do, can you describe to us the noise that it generates? I would also ask for you to check if there will be any changes on the LED indicators whenever it does that.

Hi Frank,

The BE750G will only activate an internal Relay if it is changing operating states, i.e. On-line, On-Battery, or if the Green Functionality is being utilized. Can you describe what the total connected load is in detail and where these devices are connected to the UPS? in addition, is it possible you have a Laser Printer installed nearby?

Thanks for the responses. I think the situation is my connected computer is drawing too much juice for my 50 year old circuits. I hear the relay click at the slightest activity on the machine. There is a laser printer, but disconnecting it did not resolve the issue.  An APC tech suggested lowering the sensitivity of the backup device but I have not tried that. It does not happen on my 2006 iMac that I connected to test if it was the larger power supply than the i5, . Once again, the 750 is silent unless the computer is brought out of sleep. If the computer is idle, no clicking, but even opening an application will engage the battery back up charge relay. Not sure how else to troubleshoot this without an electrical technician.

Oh and there is no change to the led's when I hear the clicking. I'm also not sure what the "green " mode the second post described pertains to.
