Hello,
I currently have a 550R ES UPS that I love. It was a replacement for an older UPS that had already gone through battery conditioning and finally died. It's been working well and has proven itself a couple of times when we've lost power due to maintenance or storms in the last year or so. The UPS itself is just shy of 3 years old.
All was working well until today when it started alternating between battery and AC power. I finally had to unplug and turn it off because the notifications were interfering with my work.I plugged it into a couple of other outlets and got the same result.
Is it possible that the battery has finally gone on this and is making it do this or is the unit itself defective. It's out of warranty, and I really don't have the funds to pay for repairs on the unit.
Suggestions, please?

are you using the APC software with the UPS so we can see what the "last transfer to battery" is being recorded as according to that?
this type of behavior does not indicate that the battery needs replacing to me. are you hearing any other noises besides a clicking im assuming? what LEDs are you seeing when this happens. how fast are the transfers back and forth?
