I have installed a Mac Intel xServe with dual power supplies, protected by 2 Smart-UPS 1500s. I am seeking advice on what PowerChute software to install, and what issues need to be addressed with this particular configuration.

PowerChute Network Shutdown would be able to monitor both UPSs, and initiate graceful shutdowns only when both UPSs require it. However, this software would require a Network Management Card to be installed in each of your Smart-UPS because it communicates with them over the network. This configuration also would require that your network infrastructure be backed up as well. Otherwise, if/when the power goes out, you will lose your network, and PowerChute would not be able to communicate with the UPSs.

Either of the 3 available Network Management Cards (AP9617, AP9619, or AP9618) will do. The AP9619, and AP9618 cards just have some added features like environmental monitoring and out of band capability.

Thanks for that advice. As I have already spent all of my client's money, this solution will have to to wait a month or two. Meanwhile, can I use Powerchute personal edition as a workaround? If so, how do I configure it to work with 2 UPS's?

Unfortunately PowerChute Personal Edition cannot be configured to work with two UPS units.

OK. I've purchased and installed the 2 network cards. I don't see anywhere in PowerChute Network Shutdown where I can manage 2 UPS's into one server.
Some pointers would be gratefully recieved.
