Franc,

Perhaps just a typo, I don't think PCNS v 2.2.2 is released yet. 2.2.1 is the latest revision offered by APC. To setup your server to shutdown after the UPS has been on battery for X number of minutes you would need to log into the PCNS agent on the server by opening a browser and typing http://ipaddressofserver:3052 (actually use ip address or loopback address) From this menu, you would click on Configure Events. The options on the right, use the event UPS:On Battery. Hit the radio button for shutdown system under this event and you can configure the shutdown after the UPS has been on battery for X number of seconds, make sure you hit apply. Back in the blue section on the right, click Configure Shutdown. There is a checkbox there that says "Shutdown UPS after shutdown finishes". Make sure this box is unchecked if you want the UPS to continue to run, if you want the UPS to shutdown when that server shutsdown, leave it checked. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks

I Grenade,

I have another quetion for you...

I have a Smart-UPS 1500 connect with a USB cable. I install Powerchute business basic edition 7.0.5 on one server. I install first the agent after I intall the server on the same server and I install the console on my PC, this work correctly. But I install the agent on another server but the PCBE do not see the another server, the service APC PBE is running and all of the firewall is off ( Windows XP SP2, Windows 2000, Windows 2003) ????

Hello,

Are you getting "Failed to Apply Configuration Profile" when adding the second Agent to the Server/Console portion? What UPS are you using with the second Agent and what comm cable? What version of java is running on the second server? Can you get to the Agent direct on the second server via http://127.0.0.1:3052 ? Please check out the Kbase document regarding "Failed to Apply Configuration Profile"

http://nam-en.apc.com/cgi-bin/nam_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2596

Let us know how it goes. Thanks.

In order for the Agent portion of the software to work, it needs a direct line of communication to a UPS. If you do not have a communication cable to the UPS from that server, you are going to get that message every time, because the Agent software does not see a UPS.

You should use the black serial cable that came with the UPS and our Interface Expansion Card, AP9607CB, to add more serial ports for PowerChute Business Edition communication.

http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=AP9607CB

The other option is to use our Network Management Card, AP9617, and PowerChute Network Shutdown to put the UPS on your network and initiate that shutdown signal via network communication. This avoids using any communication cable.

http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=AP9617

The last option is to use the PowerChute Business Edition software on the main server, and run a shutdown script from the Agent to the second server.

Hope this helps. Thanks.
