hello community,
UPS Symmetra LX, 4 pm's and 4 batt's.
You lose the RIM and the MIM "sees" only 2 batts out of 4. Is this a normal behaviour ?
Then, changing the location ( I put the same module in the upper position) I get an alarm for defective MIM( ok), but the RIM "sees" 4 batts.
Any hints why is doing this?
Thank you
M

Yes, this is normal behavior When both modules are in, you see all batteries. I also think there might be some delays with these messages/monitoring when removing IMs when you are playing around with this so keep that in mind.
The "MIM" or the bottom slot, is responsible for monitoring two of the batteries (in a 16kVA frame) and the RIM (top slot) is responsible for the other two.
R1 (IMs are in two small slots here)
R2 - MIM
R3 - RIM
R4 - MIM
R5 - RIM
Anyway, is your MIM faulty and you are replacing it? Or is the fault still there?

I am told they have always been like that and it is just where they put the cable. It's a pass-through and still communicates with the MIM.

Hi,
Anyway, I hook it to the MIM whenever I start-up a box.
Thanks Angela, have a nice week-end.

hey, hello angela,
vacation is over? glad to hear from you. thank you for the answer. I also have another post with a LX which seems not to recognize one power module: does not display serial no and all the other data. could you look up? could it be a defective module?
thank you
mihail

Yes, vacation is over
I commented on it with my two cents but I see Chris already did.
