smart ups 5000VA Network Management Card startup
Hi,
I am Jamal. We are using APC UPS 5000VA & 3000VA in our environment. Scenario is we have 4x5KVA UPS on which 10xServers are connected for redundancy. we have configured power chute network shutdown to shutdown servers when AC power failure is observed by UPS. Now I have two questions (on lost of AC power to UPS):
1) Is there any way that I put some kind of schedule or bat file in windows that runs PCNS (configured with event) automatically every time when the server is shutdown from windows start menu? Because I want that if we shutdown the servers from windows start menu then there is no need for UPS to stay awake, it should shutdown its outlet group and itself.
2) I want to know the command which PCNS tells UPS that servers are shutting down and you may cut off your output as well with some delay?
In short, We have an application running on 10x servers through which we control the shutdown process of all servers. We just tell one of our server to begin shutting down process on all other servers and shutdown itself on last. I want to put something (which I request from you) in that shutdown process that triggers the PCNS event to tell the UPSs to shutdown automatically because all of servers are shutting down.

Hi,
If you are going to write a command file that the system will run I suggest disabling Turn UPS off in PCNS. That way only the command file will be telling the UPS to power down.
As for the command file, I recommend you use SNMP. You will find the proper OID by doing a walk of the NMC/s. As an example for my SMX3000RM2U with AP9631 the OID is 1.3.6.1.4.1.318.1.1.1.6.2.1 I recommend turning UPS off gracefully.
