I have a APC rack 750 and an EMC AX150i iSCSI. I need to get a cable to hook the 2 up.
2 questions:
1) on the UPS, do I need an extended card or can I use the 9 pin serial?
2) What cable would I need? (9 pin serial to Ethernet)

Maybe the AP9809 (Serial to RJ45 for SAN) is the one you are looking for.

Well, I'm not positive what type of connection, if any, you're going to have with the UPS. If you need a Serial to RJ-45 connection, APC Smart-UPS only communicate either via USB-A to USB-B or DB-9 to DB-9 via the 940-0024 cable.

After reading through Dell's AX150i documentation, it appears that this device has only ethernet connectivity, which makes sense since it is an iSCSI SAN.
I was not able to determine if this Dell/EMC box is running any kind of Windows/Linux OS. If it is, there is the remote possibility that PowerChute Network Shutdown could work.
Could you please shed some light into what platform this iSCSI box is running, and if it is open enough to run custom apps?
Thanks.

I would assume Linux of some type... It runs Navisphere.

I don't see any APC supported solution for gracefully shutting down a box like that. Short of the iSCSI SAN box:
1) running a [supported version of Linux w/ the appropriate Java Runtime installed|http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/SJHN-7AYQNP_R0_EN.pdf] and
2) the box even allows user interaction to install 3rd party apps alongside Navisphere
I'm not sure how a gracuful shutdown can be achieved.
Perhaps if we can get more information from Dell/EMC on these questions a solution/workaround could be found. With so many EMC SANs and APC UPSs deployed everywhere, they might have already figured out some way to get this to work.
