Hi all,
We have an issue with a UPS that is connected up to a server at a remote site. The UPS is a Smart-UPS 3000 RM, connected to an HP server running Windows Server 2003 5.2 and Powerchute Agent v8.0.0.306. We are running Powerchute Business Edition Deluxe v8.0 on our Server at Head Office. The UPS is connected to the remote server with one of the APC USB to 10P10C connectors.
When I am trying to make a change to the UPS through the console on my machine (in this case, trying to raise the high-transfer voltage reporting level to 257), I receive the error message:
"Failed to apply one or more values. Categories that contain failures are designated with a red icon in the category list. Items that failed are highlighted in red in the identified category pages."
The UPS is reporting in normally and appears to be functioning correctly, it's making all its reports as it should and is showing what appear to be the correct values on the Voltage Analysis page (it's slightly above the reporting value which is why I need to make this change).
If anyone has any ideas on how to resolve this, please let me know! ๐

You should only use the cable that came with the UPS. My suspicious is that the cable that you are using is the cause of the issue. If possible, could you please use the cable that came with the UPS and see if this resolves?

Hi Steve,
Before going any further, I would like to know if you are using any interface expander on your set up? How many computers do you want to receive shutdown signal in case of a power problem?

Hi juangele,
No, we are not using an interface expander. The UPS is connected directly into the server using the 10P10C to USB cable. No other servers need to be sent shutdown signals at this site.

Hi Steve,
Please ensure that the cable you are using is one that came with the UPS. Also, you may try using either the IP address of the computer or the computer name itself to add it on the console.

Hi all,
We had an engineer on site while doing his rounds the other day and I had him replace the cable - it looks like this was the cause of the fault. I can now do everything as I should be able to. It was a proper APC cable as well, I think it may have taken a knock at some point and broken a wire.
