I have the same question. Where can I find a copy of the old Powerchute software that supports serial ports. My models are the:
Back-ups Pro 1000 (Model BP1000)
Back-ups 650 (Model BK650MC)
After talking to technical support, we determined that the Business Edition is not compatible with my units because they use simple signaling ports.
I'm about to give up, please help!

Here is a link to the software/firmware download page at APC.
http://apcc.com/tools/download/
From here, the serial shutdown software is listed as Powerchute Business Edition. Version 7.0.5 is the latest revision and it would require a smart signaling APC serial cable, part # 940-0024.
Thanks

Hello Pinofarinola,
The two models you listed, BP1000 and BK650MC, can be used with Powerchute Business Edition. The only difference is that they're Simple signaling devices, meaning Powerchute will only receive limited information, such as Online, On battery, or Low Battery. You won't see information such as run time, load, or voltage information. However Powerchute will still be able to gracefully shut your system down in the event of a prolonged power failure.
When installing Powerchute Business Edition, you will be prompted for UPS type. At this point you do not want to scan the COM ports for the UPS as this is another limitation of Simple signaling devices. You will want to specify the COM port and that the UPS is Back UPS or Simple Signaling Device. Once you've done this proceed with the rest of the installation.
If you run into any problems with this, please let me know.

The version of PowerChute you use is dependent upon the model of UPS you use.
If you use a UPS that has a serial port with the correct version of PowerChute it will work.
A standard serial cable will not work. You must use a special serial cable with different pinouts for smart and simple signaling to work. You can buy one from any APC vendor.
Finally, APC has excellent phone support. Write down your serial number and give them a call. They will make sure you have the correct software and cables.

Hi,
PowerChute Plus is no longer supported and has been removed from the FTP site. If you would like a copy hopefully one of the other forum member will make it available.
