i installed the powerchute virtual machine on Vspherelient connecting to ESXi 6
when I first loaded up the machine it took me to a terminal screen and said I needed to agree to terms and create a user first.
I did that.
now when I load up the vitual machinesays
"To configure powerchute network shutdown using the setup wizard, browse to: http://:6547"
then it just sits at a login screen. It never took me to the "MAIN MENU" that all the tutorials show. what am I doing wrong here?
Any help is appreciated. thanks.

Hi,
Yes. All network devices must have a unique IP address.
NOTE: The subnet mask entered in the the UPS Network Management card must match the subnet mask enter into the PowerChute VM. Example: if the subnet mask the UPS Network Management card is configured with is 255.255.255.0 then the one entered for the PowerChute VM must be 255.255.255.0

Hi,
Sorry for the inconvenience. Do you want to set a static IP address for the VM and are you familiar with using VI editor? If so you need to edit the ifcfg file and add the needed network information. To determine the proper ifcfg file to be edited log into the appliance and enter the command ifconfig
In the example above the network adapter that needs to be edited is ens32 so the file that needs to be edited will be ifcfg-ens32
That file will be found in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts
You should create a copy of the file before editing The command is cp ifcfg-ens32 saved-ifcfg-ens32
Once copied open ifcfg-ens32 with vi editor and add these lines replacing 192.168.1.? and 255.255.255.0 with your needed network settings
IPADDR=192.168.1.10
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
GATEWAY=192.168.1.1
DNS1=192.168.1.2
DEFROUTE=YES
You may also need to change the line BOOTPROTO=dhcp to BOOTPROTO=none
Save the file and then restart the network connection. The command is systemctl restart network.
NOTE: you should be logged in as root or switch to supper user to run the commands above.
Once the network has been restarted enter ifconfig and you will see that the IP address has been assigned to the VM. You can then log into the PowerChute web interface using that IP address. Example: https://192.168.1.10:6547

thank you for the reply.
does the IP address of the VM need to be different than the static IP I gave the battery through the web interface? I assume it does.
