firmware update steps

Hi folks,

We have 2 older AP9630's and one newer device. We are seeing the browser errors related to SSL/TLS referenced in a previous discussion from 10/2015. The older units are running sumx v5.1.6, aos v5.1.6 and bootmon v1.0.2. The newer unit is sumx v6.2.0, aos v6.2.0 and bootmon v1.0.8. It appears that we will need a firmware update to the NMC's in order to enable https, correct? From the earlier post it looks like we need to get to v6.2.1.

If so, are the current bootmon versions compatible? And is the upgrade to the older devices a "one step" process or are multiple upgrades necessary? In other words, can we go from v5.1.6 -> v6.2.1 directly?

Last but not least, can anyone (APC) supply a link to an official/supported procedure for getting this accomplished?

Many thanks in advance.

Buddy

Hi Buddy,

Yes, you need at least 6.2.1 to have luck with modern browser versions. That contains SSLv3/TLS 1.0/TLS 1.1. Though, we just released AOS 6.4.0/sumx 6.4.0 in the past month which gives also TLS 1.2 and allows the user to configure the minimum allowed protocol for security reasons. I'd recommend getting up to that for the most up to date security fixes and enhancements. You'll find that on our software firmware download website under SFSUMX640 http://www.apc.com/tools/download/index.cfm

As you can see as well, the v5 and v6 interfaces are very different. It seems though you've been exposed to both and will understand the navigation in the web will change. There are other system design changes as well and this is a good start to review -> http://www.apc.com/support/index?page=content&country=ITB〈=en&locale=en_US&id=FA167693

Here are instructions on upgrading-> http://www.apc.com/support/index?page=content&country=ITB〈=en&locale=en_US&id=FA156047 . You can go v5->v6 but understand the caveats in the above referenced link.

Let me know if you have any questions.
