I just got an SMT1500. It comes with Pwoerchute 9.1.1. I have Windows 10 x64. I see there is Powerchute 9.2 out but it does not list windows 10. Should I use Powerchute 9.2 or 9.1.1?
Also, does the powerchute software allow you to configure the SMT1500 or is it just used for shutting a system down? I am debating on installing it. On my SMX, I have the network card so I never used the powerchute.
thanks,
Mike

thanks. I ordered a AP9631 since the cost was not much more than the AP9630.

I went ahead and installed 9.2 on a windows 10 x64 machine (spare laptop to try the program). Seemed to work.
I installed the agent, server, and console. Do I need to install all three? I just want to use the powerchute to configure and monitor the UPS and not use the software to shutdown the computer since I have a standby generator that will turn on automatically.
I did try uninstalling the console and although there was no shortcut to access the web page GUI, I was able to find it.
So what is the purpose of the console?
Last, I have other programs on my workstation that I ultimately want to install the powerchute to include a Unifi Controller and just wondering if the APC Powerchute will interfere.
I am thinking of getting the AP9630 Network Card so if I do, I guess I do not need the Powerchute. However, not sure if it is worth the $200 if I can just use Powerchute.
thanks,
Mike

Hi,

No. You do not need all three. You can just install the Agent and connect to it via the web interface.

A shortcut to the web interface is created in the start menu.

The console can be used to manage multiple Agent. If you only have installed one Agent you do not need the Server and Console.

PowerChute offers the ability to run command files / scripts so if the Unifi Controller can be scripted then PowerChute should be able to work with it.

With the network card you can access the UPS directly. Using PowerChute you access the UPS through the computer system. Also, PowerChute is designed to shut down the OS so if you do not want the OS shutdown you would better served using the AP9630.

thanks for the reply. Pretty much answers everything.
For the network card, I can get the AP9630 for $202 and the AP9631 for $257. outside the sensors, do you know if the 9631 have any other added benefits?
thanks,
Mike

Hi,
The AP9631 offers environmental monitoring and the ability to connect dry contact sensor. The AP9630 does not offer those features.
