factory reset on a network card

Is there anyway to do a factory reset on a network card over the network?  I am in Canada and my troubled UPS is in the US.

I am glad to help - if you cannot access it remotely anymore from any location, you'll need to have someone local to it to either - factory wipe (format it) by holding the reset button for 20 seconds where it will go back to DHCP only mode or have someone log in via a serial connection and just change the subnet setting so that you could access it.

The answer is it depends what type of reset. It also requires access to the card.


AP9617/18/19 offer "Reset to default" options - including or excluding TCP/IP settings in the web or telnet/SSH interface.


AP9630/31 also offer this as well as a format command you can do via telnet/ssh which wipes every single thing (including TCP/IP settings). It is a step beyond reset to defaults. Reset to defaults is best if you need to exclude your TCP/IP settings.


If you can't find these options, I need to know what firmware version  you have and what model of management card.

I would say that I need the second option you mentioned.  It is an AP9630 card with v5.1.7  What I did was during the configuration I entered an incorrect subnet.  Instead of using 172.16.73.17 I entered 172.16.173.17 which means I cannot access the card.

I am just learning this so thank you for your patience.
