if you are using the device IP configuration tool that you got off of the CD that came with the network management card, please make sure you are using at least version 3.0.3. this is a common issue with version 3.0.1. you can download the latest version off of apc.com under Software and Firmware->Software Upgrades - Wizards and Configurators to find it.

alternatively, use a different method from the link JonPro posted.

If you've already set the correct IP, subnet and gateway settings to the card the next thing that you would like to do is to open a web browser and on the address bar type in the IP address that you've assigned on the network management card.

Can you post a screenshot of the browser error message? Also can you send us the event.txt and config.ini files of the network management card? If you haven't done this yet please see this APC Knowledge Base Article - http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9321/kw/config.ini

i would first verify your settings have taken and that the status LED, to the right of the network jack, is solid green. if it is not, don't proceed any further because your IP settings have not took.

thank you for your help and suggestions guys!!! now it is working and ive configured the NMC. but could it be possible that every ups has a different group? because i have only one main switch or network hub and all equipment are intact with it, could it be possible to have at-least two group of network messaging.

for example i have ups1 and ups2, and every ups are loaded with computers at-least six unit every ups. and what i want to happened is that every time theres a failure in ups1 it will send alarm to his load cpu's only in his group not sending message to ups2 load. could it be possible?

I have this Powerchute network shutdown i install it and it works but what happened is that when i unplug the ups1 as group1, it send a message all through out the cpu's including cpu's in group2 ups2 that it turn on to battery mode... how can i separate them from group1 to group two.... thank you a lot!!!!

No problem. Let me see what I can do on your next problem. You have 2 UPS with at least 6 computers attached to it. What you would like to accomplish is for these computers to receive notification only on the UPS where they are attached to, is this correct? Are the UPS and PCs on a different network segment or all of them are on the same?

The NMC's is capable of sending e-mail, SysLog and SNMP traps which you can direct on a specific receiver. How did you install the PowerChute Network Shutdown, is it Single Instance on Single UPS? Just to give you an idea, whenever the UPS goes to battery it send a broadcast message on the PCNS clients that are listed on the PowerChute Clients list on the NMC. If the client is on a different segment PCNS sends a unicast message. Once PCNS receives the message that the UPS is on battery it can be configured to send notification. It can be setup to send notification on a certain PC/IP address or all users, here in our lab when we select to notify all it would send notification to the entire domain.

If you know how to write scripts/ command file, you can send net send commands to those IP's that you'd like to be notified.

good day Mr. clarkson! im trying for what you've just said but really nothing happened it still send broadcast messages all through out servers and clients pc's. can you state what actually you've done to the installation of pcns? because i just install it in every server computer not installing it to the clients computer... i have two ups and every ups are in group and every group has a server and in every server has a clients and all of this are in one network switch. and i want to send broadcast message just in its own group not sending it to other group. kindly check my attachment file for this reply for my illustration of my network guide.
