APC UPS, Made In India Bangolore, MOD: SURT 2000 XLI, S/N: JS0720021614.. I am using this UPS and everyday I completely shut off since three years as it is located in my own room. While pressing for the first time to the OFF button, the device is very sensitive and it is shut off as soon as I press it. After this I completely cut off the electricity going to the UPS. And press the OFF button again for a complete shut off of the equipment including the forever running fans. But recently this second OFF button usage takes a longer time than before. I also take a "moving sensation " from the button, as if it goes a little deeper in its place, I press harder than a few months before for a complete shut off. It seems as if this button is losing its sensitivity. Note that I do not have communication with the UPS temporarily, because of the RS232-USB problem, this problem will be solved in the coming months only.
Can anyone advice what the problem really is? Is there a part number for this button if it must be changed? I am very pleased with it ( except the fan noise which I am still trying to solve! ) and I do not want to be in the position of changing it because of a stupid button!
