Hi Guys...
i have today updated the firmware on a AP9617 working with a smartups to version 3.7.2 from version 2.X.X. I now cant connect to it using https or http.
i found some KB articles on some sort of failure using this version of the firmware and having to generate 1024 bit certificates. i followed the article and generated the certificate files using the security wizard I transfered the
the appropriate certificate to the sec folder of the NMC and imported into the browser but still it does not work via http or HTTPS. I have tried reseting the card back to factory defaults and removing the certificates etc
but still its not working. I am still getting the application failed to load message using firefox/IE and Chrome.
Has anyone got a link to a copy of the older v 2.X smart UPS version of the firmware for the AP9617 card so I can reload this to the device. I have looked on the original CD that came with the card and there does not
seem to be a .bin file with the firmware on.

Hi Kevin,
There may have been an error originally via the utility. It should absolutely load both the AOS (APC OS) and the application file. Re-running it was an option too - I didn't realize you had more than one card with the issue.
Re-running the utility re-pushes both files which is fine too.

Can you FTP to the device? Also, HTTP and HTTPS is technically working because it is displaying a web page to you regarding the application failed to load. When I first read your post, I thought you were getting "Page Cannot be displayed" or similar. We likely can fix this once we understand what firmware is on your network management card currently.
If you can FTP to the Network Management Card via Windows command prompt or similar tool, please do the ls command and tell me what is listed ? I also need to know what AOS is loaded so when you FTP in, it will say something like AOS X.Y.Z server ready. Please tell me that number.
Example of FTPing in and what we want to see (yours may be different so that is what I need to know):
C:\Users\
ftp 10.218.X.X Connected to 10.218.X.X.
220 AP9617 Network Management Card AOS v3.7.3 FTP server ready.
User (10.218.X.X:(none)):
....
230 User logged in, proceed.
ftp> ls
200 PORT Command okay.
150 File status okay; about to open data connection.
apc_hw02_aos_373.bin
sec/
apc_hw02_sumx_372.bin
event.txt
data.txt
config.ini
Alternatively, if you can serial in but no FTP, tell me what it says on the top right of the screen - something like Network Management Card AOS X.Y.Z and then maybe Smart-UPS Application X.Y.Z or there might be nothing listed under the AOS.

Then, navigate to System->About System menu and tell me/copy/screenshot what is in there please.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Kevin,
What I see is that you do not have an application file loaded (which contains the web pages).
You'll need to go in through FTP just like you did before, which you did correctly, do 'bin' and 'hash' commands do a "put" of sumx v3.7.2 .bin file and let it upload, then disconnect from FTP and the NMC would reboot and you should be OK.
Do you have the firmware files available? You can get them from http://www.apc.com/tools/download/index.cfm if you need it and look for Firmware Upgrades - UPS Network Management Card and part number SFSUMX372. It will be an .exe file you need to extract and get the .bin files after they are extracted. apc_hw02_sumx_372.bin is what you need.

Ok, Thanks,
I did get the firmware files from your site and when I extracted them it does have the bin file listed. I am wondering when you do the upgrade utility why did it not install that file?
Am I going to have to ftp into all of them and install the file after the upgrade utility? or should the upgrade utility supposed to install that file also?
I will look at getting that file uploaded.
Thanks
Kevin

FYI, Just for giggles I reran the upgrade utility on the same management card and I can now web into it. We do have dhcp/dns issues but I will start a new thread or search existing. Basically we can not web in via the name of the device
Thanks
Kevin
