Hi,
We just bought a UPS system for our 3 servers. 1 x SUA2200XL and 2 x UXABP48. We'd like to know how long this UPS can make our server run.
In powerchute it says we could get more than 1000 minutes of uptime, how accurate is this estimation?
Is there a way to run on batteries until they're empty and then switch on utility power so the servers don't shutdown? This way we would know how long the server survived on batteries.
Any other ways?

Welcome to the APC Forum Mathieu.
The runtime that you see on the PowerChute software is the estimated runtime that the UPS can provide, for you to know the exact runtime on your UPS you will need to do a manual runtime calibration. Manual runtime calibration is done by making sure that there's no critical load attached to it and the UPS and external battery packs has been fully charged. Make sure as well that your UPS does have at least 30% non-fluctuating load attached to it and the proceed by unplugging the UPS and let it run on battery until it expires.
Another way of doing a calibration is by using the PowerChute Software and from there you'll be initiating a software calibration. On both calibrations you need to make sure that the internal battery of both the UPS and the external battery packs are connected. Each UXABP needs to be charged for 24 hours and needs to be charge before doing any calibration. From the software as well you need to make sure that the correct numbers of battery packs in which on your case each UXABP is equivalent to 5 battery packs already.

In addition to what Jon said, the UPS runtime depend upon the load you plug in and the battery capacity.

I hope that it helps.
