battery temps
We have an APC UPS 500 Lithium Ion UPS that is running around 31 degrees Celsius and is throwing High temp alerts. Is this normal or is that battery running outside of recommended specs?

The specifications by APC call out their systems are tested at 25’C. As stated by them and industry standard testing for every 10’C increase above the (25’C) standard operating temperature.
This will result in a 50% reduction in operational service life of the battery.
IE. Battery is rated for five years. If the operating temperature is elevated as stated up above.
The operational service life of the battery is (appropriately) 2.5 years. Obviously, other factors come into play that impact battery service life such as usage, environmental conditions.
Some basic checks are proper mounting and spacing. The unit is installed in a well ventilated and temperature controlled space. If the unit has a fan it isn’t blocked or covered in dirt / debris. The unit is not located in direct sunlight or equipment that generates heat.
