Yes. You can proceed. The "official" procedure for that type of UPS is to turn it off and braindead it but I think secretly this is really hot swappable - I never do it and there is an extremely slim risk of damaging the AP9630. I've hot swapped things in the SmartSlot hundreds of times now and I'd only avoid it if you believe either the UPS or AP9630 are faulty and are testing them (as an example).
