Hello together,
i am trying to give a UPS SMT3000RMI2U a static IP address. For this i used the device ip configuration utility 5.0.0 and 5.0.1.
With each try i have to reset the UPS, to see the MAC address on the tool. If i add a IP, i get the message: This IP address could not be set. Please try a different IP.
I actually tried 5 (not in use) IP`s and none of them is working. What am i doing wrong? Can anyone help?
Regards
Ben

Hi Ben,
What OS are you running the tool on? It looks like a newer Windows OS. And the IPs - are they on the same subnet as your PC running the computer?
Also, we have version 5.0.2 available if you feel like trying that to see if any change.
If you are on the same subnet and the tool isnt working, you could try ARP. If that doesnt work, I'd just go ahead and review the other methods are outlined here: How do you make a Network Management Card communicate on a network? | FAQs | Schneider Electric US

Hi Angela,
thanks for your fast answer. We are working with Windows 7 and SP1. All devices are in the same subnet, i was able to configure a PDU without problems.
I will try ARP and your link and let you know soon.
Thanks

No problem. In the meantime, let me see if I can find out any more info on that issue and what else there is to check. Depending on what I find, I can turn it into a knowledge base article perhaps.

Here is some info:
With Windows 7, you need to be logged in as the administrator, not any other account. They should also run as administrator in case you're not sure.
Check that Java has been allowed network access:
Note: The program itself should not need explicit to be given access, only Java.
Windows 7 And Windows Vista -
1. Go to 'Control Panel'
2. Go to 'System and Security' (Or just 'Security')
3. Go to 'Windows Firewall'
4. Go to 'Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall' (On the left hand side menu)
5. Scroll down to 'Java(TM) Platform SE Binary'
6. Check the appropriate boxes for allowing Java to access the proper network. (Private and/or Public)
