agents fails to find ups

Dear,

Got two SUA3000RMI2U, both got a AP9607 on it.
I recently moved from a location and therefore replaced all the servers. But I am keeping the UPC's
The serial port on the UPC got the 940-0024b cable and I am using the 940-0020b cable for the AP9607
Got windows 2003, fully patch, with mcafee enterprise antivirus.
The problem is that the agent do not find the smartups when I install the agent.
I called the helpdesk of APC and they suggested to disconnect the batterij, remove the power and keep it shut down for 30 seconds. Then they suggested that I set manaly the APC
Simple signaling for the AP9607 and Smart signaling for the onboard serial port.

This did not help eather when I go to the onboard webpage on the 3000 port something. It says that no device is connected. I even tryed the old 7.04 agent.

What Is strange is that it only works on USB, that is used to work fine on the old location with the old servers.
That now, the onboard serial and the AP9607 does not work. I also tryed a lot of different cables and so on.

Does anybody got any ideer how to proceed ?

The problem is, that the agent, when installing, does not see the ups. When I set it manaly, so the server connected with a 940-0020b cable that is connected to the AP9607 on simple signaling
and the servers that are connected with the 940-0024b cable that are connected directly to the UPS I set on smart signaling.
Even than I get

Device Communications Not Established

I also set the communication port as it should be, but it did not have a effect

ok, i would suggest we just work directly with the smart signaling port.

is it possible for you to stop the APC PBE Agent service if its running (even if its not working), use hyperterminal, or some terminal program to try and establish a connection with the UPS through there?

the port settings are 2400, 8, none, 1, no flow control. you will want to send the command of Shift Y to see if you receive a response from the UPS which will at least tell us the comm port is working. make sure to choose the correct comm port on your machine.

for the agents connected to the AP9607, you are right - you need to choose simple/basic signaling with interface expander. in this mode, you will only be able to tell if the UPS is online or on battery and you wont be able to see any other data. once you log into the agents that are set up for simple signaling with the AP9607, to test it you will need to put the UPS on battery and refresh the status page to see if the status has changed from "online" to "OnBattery".

your interface on the simple signaling agents should look similar to the screenshot I attached to this post.

unfortunately, this is what you will see in simple signaling mode because the UPS can only tell the PCBE agent when the UPS is on battery and when it has a low battery.

so you should have a total of 3 agents installed on 3 different machines, one configured in smart signaling mode and two in simple signaling mode. did the smart signaling one auto detect or no?

let me know if you have any questions but essentially, it probably is already set up correctly, it just doesnt look like it (assuming port settings are correct).
