Where Do You Source Your Replacement Fans?

SMT-1500.

Is it a standard form factor?

Do you just go through an APC distributor, or has someone maybe found a great after market fan that fits (good price, quiet, moves air, long life).

I don't recall the exact size, but the fan itself is a standard form factor. Maybe 80mm?

Two caveats: the fan runs from and is rated for 24 volts DC and it's got a special mounting bracket. As best I recall, the bracket can be attached to another fan. It should simply click into the standard mounting screw holes on the new fan. Unfortunately, there don't seem to be a whole lot of options for replacement 24 volt fans.

Thank you William. That is quite helpful. Two vendors I checked with don't carry the fan, but having an inkling it is a std form factor gives me impetus to go ahead and pull the aching one to confirm size and pick up a high quality replacement.

I removed my fan to get the model and voltage from the label on it. My SMT2200 had a 92mm 24v fan.

Sunon Maglev do 4 speeds in that size and voltage if you can source one, pick the slowest if it is living in a standard temperature room, medium speeds if the room gets up to 30 degrees and the fastest if it is in an unventilated room.

I checked mine today, I bought the ME92252V2-000U-A99 rated at 2700 rpm (it runs at 11.5v at idle lowering the speed) compared to the Y.S Tech FD249225HB rated at 3100 rpm. It is very quiet but at the lower speed it does have a very quiet tick to it that I could hear as it bounced off the wall right into my ear by pure bad luck, if I moved a few inch either way I didn't detect the tick! (fixed today by taping a rubber lies tub over the fan exhaust to direct the airflow down)

As it kicks out enough air I did consider going another speed down as it used to be louder than my water cooled PC at idle, then I bought a HP microserver and that took the lead noise wise so the 200rpm fan can stay!
