Hi,

If the service is stopping that indicates a conflict with another service running on your system or corruption in the registry. I have seen cases where people have uninstalled McAfee for example yet the McAfee uninstaller leave files behind in the registry that cause system problems.

You should restart the service and if it continues to stop roll the system back to a known good point. Other troubleshooting steps would be to stop other services that are running and start them a few at a time to see if you can find a conflicting service. If you cannot determine the cause you could uninstall PowerChute and use the control panel power option as I mentioned in an earlier post or use APCUPSD.

If you do decide to use the control panel power options you may need to update the UPS driver to HID UPS. You can find information on how to update the driver in this Kbase FA159743

Hi,

The Back-UPS BE350 does not offer a communications feature. If you would like a Back-UPS 350 that offers communications to a PC you should review the BK350 http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=BK350&ISOCountryCode=us

or another option is to upgrade to a BE550 http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=BE550G&total_watts=200

Hey Bill. This is the 1st time I've been back to APC. I'm running Windows 7 and I have a line from the backup to my pc and I get an icon on my task bar that tells me how much power is in / on the Back up. To me the wire looks like a phone line it's not but I don't know what to call it smile. What I did to fix the come out of hibernate was to take out the line and now if I'm home and the power goes off I can come in and turn off the back up power and all is well. So when I get the power back on all I do is turn on the backup and turn on my pc and it comes out of hibernate. Now when I leave the house I shut down / hibernate the pc turn off my backup so if the power goes off the pc is off. Tonight when I came on APC I looked around and found some software and just downloaded it and then saw I had a reply. I am hoping the software shuts down my pc. If the software works will it take it out of hibernate and then shut down ? I will not install the software till I hear from you. The number on my Back-Ups Pro 350 is BP350UC

I will check my APC inbox more often. Several times this week or until I hear from you before I install the software.

Thank you so much any help will be appreciated.

Hi,

A BP350UC will have a standard USB connection so it will be compatible with Windows 7 Power Options and PowerChute Personal Edition. You can find information on the Windows power option in this Kbase FA159653

Evening Bill

I looked at the web sites and set my settings, unplugged the power from the wall and it turned off the display in 1 minute and then it hibernated in 2 minutes and within a minute the pc

booted back up ?? I did this several times same thing happened????? I still have it set to hibernate I tested sleep but it came back on too.

After dinner I tried to install the software again and it didn't install just got the hour glass for about 30 seconds and nothing.

I give up I will keep turning off the backup when I leave the house.

8:30 pm

11:05 pm

Hey Bill !!!!

Ever since I have been on the forum I have been installing the software from APC with the usb plugged into my computer and the backup

When I tried to install the software I got the hour glass and the software would not install ? So just about 30 minutes ago I unplugged the usb and for

some reason I clicked on the install software and it started to install ? Half way thru it said that there was no backup installed so while it was running I plugged the usb

into the backup and the software continued to install. I just unplugged the backup from the wall and the backup beeped and within a minute it said it was going to hibernate

it shut down then came back on and then SHUT DOWN and the backup shut down too. I waited 10 minutes and plugged in the backup and the backup came on ?? but I had to

push the button on my pc to start. During start I got a black page giving me the options to restore where I was or delete and restart, or something like that. It booted up just as

though it was in hibernate and a note came up on the taskbar that said the Power Chute was running.

I would have thought that to install the software I would need the backup hooked up to my pc ???

Sometimes we just get lucky smile  Before I got the software to work I would get a battery on my taskbar that told me how much power was in the battery and that it was charging.

Now I don't get a icon but when I click on the hidden icon arrows it shows the APC software is running plus Norton and my printer sharing program.

I want to thank you so much for your help.

Once again thanks.

Hey Bill

I used the PowerChute 3.0.2 and all worked well yesterday and today, until I put my Backup under the desk I got an error the APC UPS Service is not running. I read thru the info and it said something about using the USB that came with the unit, I never had one, it worked with the one I have. I uninstalled the software and got the battery back in the taskbar saying the Backup was charged I then reinstall and got the same error. I know it works because Windows 7 sees it. What Did I Do ??

Help

Thank again.
