What serial cable for a Smart-UPS C 1500I? Please.

I'm after a serial cable for a Smart-UPS C 1500I

Can someone please tell me what part number(s) apply?

If there is more than one, can you list any different functionality too, please.

In other news -

I didn't really want to add a rant on my first post, but I have used APC devices for about 15 years, and my biggest gripe has always been the difficulty in finding the correct serial cable for the device. It's like it's some huge, dark secret...! I've wasted well over an hour trying to locate what should be a no-brainer piece of information to locate.

I have a venerable Back-UPS Pro 1400 that I still use for my desktop graphics-station, but I had to buy FIVE different cables before I found the one that actually worked reliably!!

When I asked APC years ago for the part number, I was given the wrong number and excuses like - "We really don't support that model any more." But you still sell the cables... 😉

All I'm saying is, please make a simple search facility for serial cables, or at the very least provide a lookup table with models and respective cable capabilities.

If there is one available and I missed it, please make it easier to find. C'mon APC, this is good kit, and I really would like to use it without having the hell frustrated out of me just trying to find a cable.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Each UPS ships with the needed cable/s so they should be with the UPS. We do understand that they can get misplaced and because of that we are switching most systems to standard USB to alleviate this inconvenience.

Would you please provide the exact model number that is listed on the UPS bar code sticker. That number will allow us to match the UPS with the proper cable.

With respect to your comment regarding the USB cable option: I have one of those, but using the USB option is not feasible with our server system. I'm sure quite a few people are in this position. I just don't understand why the compatible cable types aren't listed on the documentation? I understand why you might not ship both cables on an entry-level device, really I do, but not why you won't list them? 

Also, the serial cable hasn't been 'misplaced' - it wasn't present. I had only just opened the factory-sealed box and found it not included in the plastic cable bag. I thought, "Hey, that's OK, I'll just go online and buy one from APC." Except that you can't if you cannot find out what cable model you need to buy in the first place.

You are correct. The SMC1500 only ships with a USB cable as listed on the UPS product web page. The serial cable part number is AP940-0625A.
