Hi,
What configuration should be done on PowerChute Network Edition installed in a VMware environment (two ESXi powered by one UPS SURTD5000 XLI)
We installed Powerchute Network Edition following the installation manual and we configured the powerchute and UPS but after testing nothing happens, the VM's do not shutdown (attached the log files and screenshots of UPS and powerchute configuration).Any suggestion please.
Regards
Adel

Hi,
As B wrote earlier, PCNS is reporting that it cannot communicate with 100.100.100.48 The log shows that PCNS never received any information from 100.100.100.48 that it was on battery. You need to resolve the communications issue before testing shutdown. We have Knowledge base document FA159624 that should help.

Hi Adel,
From the event logs I can see that there is a security mismatch error. The user name and authentication phrase need to match for PCNS to communicate with the NMC. The user name must be 3 to 10 characters and the authentication phrase needs to be 15 to 32 characters. If you verified they do match you can add the system IP addresses to the NMC PCNS client list manually to see if communications is established. If it does not then reset the NMC to the default settings, reboot the NMC, and change PCNS to use apc for the user name and admin user phrase for the authentication phrase.
If these steps do not help I will need to know what version of Java is installed on the systems, the model of the NMC, and the firmware version.
Can you also advise if these are standalone ESXi hosts or hosts that are part of a cluster and are being managed by vCenter?
If these are standalone hosts please get the build number of the PCNS you are using. This is under Help --> About.
Regards,
B

Hi,
The user name must be 3 to 10 characters (our account is apc CAD min 3 character)and the authentication phrase must be 15-32 characters (our phrase is 'admin user phrase') So the user name and the sentence of authentication are correct.
The IP addresses are added. And solutions that exist is 2 ESX cluster managed by vCentre.
Vmware version is 5.1, the PCN is pcns310, Java version is jre-7u45-linux x64-and vesrion vmware appliance is vMA-5.1.0.1-1062361
