Dear Sirs,
I recently purchased an APC UPS model SMT3000RMI2UNC equipped with a network card AP9641. I am trying to update the system firmware but am having difficulty finding the correct firmware version and instructions for updating the UPS via a web browser.
The currently installed firmware version is ID18UPS 09.3.
Could you please provide a link to the appropriate firmware download and any relevant update instructions?
Thank you for your assistance.

You may use this APC FAQ to review the prerequisites and requirements that must be in place before proceeding.
If your environment does not meet all requirements - Stop!
The most recent (FUW) Firmware Upgrade Wizard can also be downloaded from this link:
https://www.apc.com/ca/en/faqs/FA279197/
The link provided up above indicates UPS ID 18 has been updated to firmware v15.1 if applicable.
The FUW will automatically detect the UPS ID and present you with the correct UPS Firmware (IF) available.
DO NOT browse the folder to select any other UPS Firmware if nothing is presented! ☝️
NOTE: It’s unclear whether this SMT UPS is brand new or used?!? Given the very low (9.3) firmware level unless the unit was NOS (New Old Stock) that wasn’t rotated to be sold it comes across as used.
UPS Firmware should be guided by APC Technical Support live over the phone while the hardware is (IN Warranty).
As you risk bricking a perfectly working system while performing this upgrade.

Is there an option to update the firmware using Linux?
I don’t have any Windows operating system in use, and honestly, I don’t want to buy a license just to update the firmware.
The hardware was sold as refurbished. The dealer claimed that the latest update had been installed, but it seems that wasn’t the case. So now I’m trying to do it myself.
Thank you for your answer

All of the available options are outlined in this APC FAQ:
https://www.se.com/us/en/faqs/FA164737/
The only recommended method to upgrade the UPS Firmware is directly using the supplied proprietary RJ50 -> RS232 (DB9) Serial cable.
Do not attempt to upgrade the system via USB / NMC! ☝️
Given the unit is not under APC Warranty you risk bricking a perfectly working system.
Is the system not operating correctly?!? Is there something the latest firmware offers you need?!?
The release notes call out each revision and the updates which doesn’t apply to a SMT3000. The FUW indicates it’s only applicable to 1.5 KVA and below.
The applicable UPS Firmware should be obtained via the product page or APC Technical Support if available.
