Good morning.
We have , among others, the following smart UPS working:
SMC1500IC
SMT750IC
SMC1000IC
SMT1500IC
All are connected to smartconnect.
This month, we bought new battery packs for all of them and installed them. I had no issue with any of the UPS's recognizing the new instalation dates, except for the SMC1000IC, which happens the following:
Original battery date: 04.2020
New battery installed date: 10.2025
After updating the install date with Powerchute Serial shutdown, it reads:
Install date: 10.2025
Replacement Date: 04.2025
If I update the replcament date through the UPS panel (Rb.1), then i get this:
Install date: 10.2020
Replacement date: 04.2025
On smartconnect also shows the info that we need to replace the battery. I also have updated the firmware, and the results are the same... I tried disconnecting the battery for a minute and try theprocedure again, with the same results... All batteries are original and bought at the same time from the same supplier.
Any ideas?
Thank you for your attention.
Regards,
Ricardo Santos.

You’ll need to schedule this action item during a maintenance window and report back the results:
Brain Dead: Complete the brain dead reset procedure for the SMC as outlined in this APC FAQ Video:
https://www.apc.com/ca/en/faqs/FA156611/
Once complete login to APC Smart Connect and validate the battery installation date. If it’s (Not) correct update it and wait 24 hours to see what the Smart Connect service indicates as the installation date.
Report back the outcome and results as the next possible action item is to use APC PCSS and edit the config INI file to push the installation date.
You can search this forum as to the location and entry or contact APC Technical Support for the steps / documentation to do the same.

Good morning, and thank you for your answer.
So, this weekend i tested your solution:
Disconnected battery and mains, pressed power some times, waited about 30 seconds and turn everything back on. Nothing changes, no matter what, the battery change date remais the same 04.2025 whenI update through PCSS.
But, for fun, did try an odd thing that worked:
On PCSS, I tried changing the date to 09.2025, it didn't work. Then I tried 08.2025, also didn't work... No matter what I did, the replacement date was always 04.2025. Then, i put "1.2025" and it worked!! More or less that is, as the replacement date changed to 04.2030 (notice the year change, not the month).
After some tests, I understand that for some reason PCSS is not accepting 2 digits on the month field...
Any comments?
Anyway, the month difference for us is not such a big problem, but it does appear to be some bug or on PCSS or on the firmware of the UPS...
Regards,
Ricardo Santos.

I don’t believe it’s not that it won’t accept two digits otherwise how would the system ever accept 10, 11, 12th months?
Its more likely the program was not coded to accept leading zero! 🤦♂️
Great find and appreciate the following up as I’m sure this will help the next person asking the same! ☝️
Rock On . . . 🤟
