Hello all,
I am trying to set the IP of an AP9630 using the Device IP Configuration Wizard. The wizard is able to find the unconfigured management card and to allow me to enter the IP address. I enter our IP scheme and it seems like it takes. It will never ping and if I re-open the DIPCW then it will find the unconfigured card again.
The only way I have found to fix this problem is to hyperterminal (It's 2009) into the UPS/Card and set the IP that way.
Does anyone have a solution for this problem or does APC know about it?
Bring back the AP9617!
Thanks,
Graeme

do you have a link LED on both ends (on the NMC and switch)? The link LED is the LED with the 10/100 next to it which I assume you knew 😉
if you manually set the port speed (since the default is auto) with the NMC, does that work with use with the switch? you can do this via CLI if you'd like using the portspeed command. type portspeed ? and it will tell you the switches to change the speeds.

So this appears to be an ongoing issue since 2009... I cannot communicate with this network card! Very frustrating... Several attempts now to assign an IP address via ARP have proved futile...

Hello Graeme,
Hope all is well on your end. I apologize for the inconvenience that you've had with the latest network management card. I would like to direct you on a knowledge base article that we have that serves as a guide when it comes to configuring an NMC. there are a couple of variables you need to worry about when using the device IP configuration wizard. both AP9617 and AP9630 should be configurable over the network with the wizard and it has been tested. i have seen it first hand. it is not related to the new model of card.

I have this same problem. Could it be defective hardware? I've tries two so far and they do not work. I have tried configuring it using the software, hyperterminal, and ARP with no success

I am experiencing the same issue. I have successfully configured the IP Information with the console connection using the "tcpip" command and setting the boot mode to manual (although this is automatically done). The Ethernet port is directly connected to a Cisco 3750G switch with very basic switchport configuration. When I connected the ethernet port to my laptop and gave my laptop a static IP address in the same subnet, I was able to connect via HTTP. In addtion, I was able to upgrade the OS on the module to the latest version, which I believe is 5.1.7. This showed me that my IP address / TCIP configuration on the module is correct, however, not sure why the Cisco switch isn't able to communicate to the module.
Troubleshooting from the switch, I can see the MAC address in the ARP table with the correct IP address and assigned to the correct switch port. However, the switch or other clients on the subnet can't communicate with the module.
Any help would be appreciated.
Re,
Bob
