UPS not turning on when power comes back

Hi,

I have a UPS,  surt2000xli which is only a month old and the situation is as follows.

The UPS is running on a floating crane which is turned off in the weekend.

After 2 or 3 days the crane powers back on but the UPS does'nt turn itself back on.

My question is, is it even possible for the UPS to detect returning power after a few days ?

Or might it have to do something with the settings ?

These are the current settings :

Time Required for Shutdown Sequence : 5 minutes

Low battery signal  2 minutes

Command file enabled : no

OS Shutdown duration : 0:20 Minutes:Seconds

OS shutdown type : Shutdown

Enable OS reboot : yes

UPS turn on battery capacity: 0%

UPS turn on Delay : 0 Minutes

Enable SMTP : No

Enable Logging : Yes

If theres any other info needed I will try to provide, since I have to physically connect to the UPS to read the logs etc.

Thanks in advance

Greetings,

Kevin

Hello - I did some checking.

I am told for a scenario like this with really good, new batteries, it should make it 72 hours..less than ideal situations it may be less..regardless, it should wake up when AC power is applied to it in a normal situation.

I know you said its a month old but can you give me the first several digits of the serial number on it if possible to verify manufacture date? Something like JS0910XXXXXXX - thanks!

How is the UPS being turned off before the weekend? Is someone pressing the power button to turn it off because if so, it needs to be manually turned back on.

If the UPS is turning off due to a low battery condition or by software after some type of graceful shutdown, then it might be possible depending on how long that UPS can sleep for while waiting for AC power to come back.

Its not manually turned off so it shuts down due to low battery condition. I've just googled for the max. sleep time but I can't seem to find it.

The previous UPS, which was the same type and died, is said to have been woken up after the weekend when the power on the crane was restored.

Do you happen to know how long the sleep time would be ?

Thanks for your reply Angela.

I imagine that's what happend, 72 hours without any power whatsoever.

manufacturing date is 25 of august 2012 according to the warranty check. (message below)

Your APC Smart-UPS RT 2000VA 230V (SURT2000XLI) comes
standard with a 2 years repair or replace, optional on-site warranties
available, optional extended warranties available
factory warranty. The
warranty is effective from the date of purchase. In the event that you are not
able to locate a dated proof of purchase receipt, your warranty is effective
from the product's manufacture date. Your product was manufactured on August
25, 2012
.

Or is this completely different ? If so I'll send the serial nr.

Greetings,

Kevin

Yes that information will do as well. Just wanted to see how old the batteries would be as well.

Ok, so 1 last question. Is it possible to extend the sleep time for this model ? I've had a quick look in the powerchute software but didn't see any option that would refer to the sleeping time.

You can only change the sleep time when you are commanding it to sleep for a particular amount of time - you cannot adjust anything like that for a low battery shutdown.
