Hi
We have a Smart-UPS RT 10000 XL here, but when I connected it thru Serial port and used hypertrm.exe terminal. No responds, I believe the settings in hypertrm.exe is correct, for all the other UPSs work well.
However, when I removed the Smart Slot from the UPS, and press "enter" in the terminal, it works.
Here is the message I got from the terminal:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
American Power Conversion (c) Copyright 2003 All Rights Reserved
Firmware revision: 13, compiled June 14, 2004. 18:35
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Is it due to the old firmware?
If so, how can I upgrade it by myself?
Thank you~~

ok, so it seems like you have an AP9619 network management card in the slot, which I know ships with the UPS. when you are removing it, you are accessing the Smart UPS RT control menu.
please confirm the device in the smart slot is a network management card. if not, let us know what the model is on the smart slot device.
whatever this device is, if its a network management card, it should have a status and link LED indicating its status. can you confirm what you see for LEDs so we can see if its powered up or not. if its a newer network management card, such as AP9630 or AP9631, there is a different way to access the card so that may be the issue as well, i dont know.
i believe your port settings are correct as well - it should be 2400, 8, N, 1, no flow control for mostly everything on this UPS.
the firmware on the UPS is not user upgradeable and i dont think it has anything to do with the issue you are encountering, if indeed it is a problem
hope this helps!

Thank you~
Yes, it's an AP9619 network management card.
When the card is in the slot and with no network cable connected, it shows amber.
This afternoon, APC guys will be on site support for this, I will let you know the result.
Thank you again for your advice.
:)
