UPS Status

I am using a Smart UPS 750 connected to a Windows server via USB cable and to a switch via ethernet and am trying to use the Powerchute app to connect to the UPS to check status, but although everything shows connected and the UPS has an IP address, the Powerchute software reports UPS connection lost - is there another application I should be using or is there some configs I am missing ?

1. Can you look in the Device Manager under HID devices for the USV ? Is there a device? (connect to usb first)

if yes

2. can you please try to remove Powerchute 10.x from the Server and install 9.5 32bit ?

There seems a problem with the 10.x Version.

Hi Peter,

The first thing to check is, is the network port a network management card or a Smart Connect port, smart connect ports have a green boarder. (If unsure upload a picture of the rear of the UPS)

If it's a management port you should not be using the USB and you should be using Powerchute Network edition.

If its a Smart Connect port then you setup is correct.

Hi Gavan

Thanks for your reply.

The network cable is connected to, what I believe is, the Smart Connect port as it has a green surround. We have only attached this as the USB option (our preferred choice) was not seeing the UPS from the server. Is there a way to get the USB working, as I don't really want to employ the Powerchute Network option

Thanks Peter

Can you follow the "dead brain" procedure in the below link:

https://www.apc.com/ie/en/faqs/FA156611/

Then connect the UPS via USB and see what happens, if that doesn't work verify the server sees the UPS as per:

https://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/index?page=content&id=FA283181

Hi,

What version of PowerChute are you installing and have you verified that the OS recognizes the UPS is connected via USB? To verify connection see Schneider Electric FAQ FA310907

I was using Powerchute Business Edition for the USB connection, but still unable to connect even though the OS recocognizes the connection. I have attempted to try via Ethernet using the Powerchute Network Shutdown version, but also getting connection problems with this

Hi,

The SmartConnect port is not compatible with PowerChute Network Shutdown. The port is designed to communicate with our cloud portal only.

1 - Have you follow the brain dead instructions Gavan sent to reset the UPS?

2 - After the reset is the UPS discovered by the OS and displayed in the Control Panel, Device Manager, Batteries as APC UPS?

3 - Have you tested with USBDeview.exe and if so does USBDeview display the UPS as connected and display the UPS serial number?

4 - What is the exact model and serial number of the UPS?
