Hi, we have a SURT3000XLI-CH UPS on site. According to user needs, we need to use the AP9641 network management card and serial port communication at the same time. During the application process, we found that the two communication methods cannot be used at the same time. For example, the AP9641 network management card is establishing communication with the UPS. Afterwards, the serial port communication that comes with the UPS will be lost. If the serial port keeps communicating, the AP9641 network management card will not be able to establish communication with the UPS. What do we need to do to solve this problem? The serial communication protocol used is "merican Power Conversion UPS-Link communications Protocol Specification", thank you.

Unfortunately you have to choose between using the serial cable or the AP9641 NMC.
Only the USB port on the back of the UPS is separate from the other two. What exactly is the client trying to do?!?

客户希望通过两个不同的渠道同时获取UPS的运行状态,因为他们认为仅使用NMC或通过NMC扩展干接触功能不够安全。正如您所说,我们可以通过UPS背面的USB端口获取UPS的运行状态吗?

The system status can be obtained from the USB port. But I don’t know if there will be a conflict with the NMC while doing this at the same time but you can try and report back your results. 👍
Normally the USB port is used to connect to a server that has Power Chute Serial / Network shutdown software. Others have used the same USB port to integrate with other third party monitoring software like NUT etc.
Generally speaking, the system would be monitored by a NMS (Network Monitoring System) whether cloud based or local using SNMP.
Extra monitoring and security tracking is done using a Syslog Server. Enabling the NMC email notification to alert the users of active / ongoing faults is also key.
Lastly, as a measure of connectivity a Ping Server is employed to monitor the NMC NIC.
I haven’t seen or heard of any problems with monitoring the dry contact using the NMC though.
