Two APCs started beeping 4x per 30 secs
We have APC UPS ES 550 and a 350. There was a power flicker (happens frequently here) and both backups went into the 4 beeps every 30 seconds routine. This was only a flicker. Power was back in under a second. Every other bit of equipment in house seems to be functioning normally.
Except the two backups which won't stop their idiotic beeping every 30 seconds. Manual sez this means they are on battery feed. Fine. So how to get them to return to normal? We turned off the backup. Unplugged all connected items (requiring a lot of bother with shutting down computers and network connections). Unplugged the backup. Both of them. No change. So now we are using these heavy expensive bricks iin the OFF mode, serving as 4-plug surge protectors.
The only thing we haven't tried is disconnecting the internal battery. Life is too short to have to perform such primitive tasks. (And APC battery connectors are the most primitive bit of technology outside of a 50 year old car, in my experience.) We'll try again tomorrow, and may even wade into the guts of one of them to see if that fixes it.
Unless there is something we're overlooking, the next step is to find a modern replacement and say farewell to Schneider Electric after 30 years or so.
I would like to apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. Let's start by doing a full logic reset on the UPSs by following the FAQ article that I have provided below:
Hopefully, the procedure resets the device back to its operational state. If the problem persists, I suggest reaching out to our Local Technical Support handling your country.
