Hello everyone,
I'd like how can I setup my UPS (1 Back-UPS RS 900G and 2 Back-UPS RS 550G) to turn off themselves, when battery reach a given level, say it 50%.
The background of this need, is that the UPS will keep powered some utilities as phone system and other things, it means when the UPS goes to battery, the network PC will shutdown gracefully, but then, in cases where the power failure is extended and unattended (just as sunday nights), the other utilities still use the UPS power, draining the battery to 0%.
I'd like the UPS turns itself off at 50% battery, to extend the battery life. I remember I had in the past an option to setup that on APC UPSs, but I now do not see that on the software that comes with the UPSs, Powerchute Personal Ed.
TIA, Andrea

Does you UPS have slave outputs? If the PC connected to the master power out and it goes down the slave power outputs should automatically shut power.

PowerChute Personal Edition allow you to configure the OS down when the UPS has been on battery for X minutes or when there are X minutes of battery left. If you would software that allow you to shut the OS down when the Back-UPS has X amount of battery life left you can utilize the native power options available with Microsoft Windows OS or install APCUPSD.
We many kbase that discuss setting up Windows native shutdown. You should search on native shutdown at http://www.apc.com/site/support/index.cfm/faq/
APCUPSD can be found at http://apcupsd.com

I dont think Back UPS supports this either no matter what software you install with it.

Hello Bill, I am sorry for not having explained well my problem.
I'd like to shut down the UPS, not the OS.
In my case, the OS was already shut down, but UPS battery continue to be drained by other facilities attached to the UPS. This the reason I'd like the UPS turns off themself then.
In old times, using APC with signalling over serial port, I were able to config the UPS to turn OFF when battery goes to a given level. I think this feature was not removed, but is unavailable with Powerchute Personal.
I now have requested Powerchude Business, when it will be installed I will check if that option is there. Then will update this topic. Again my apologies for the misunderstandings.
