Trying to replace a new APC battery but there is a problem

I have an APC Pro 1500. Installed the new APC battery but it continues to beep (4x p/30 sec). Running off the new battery. I've taken the new APC battery back out and re-installed. Appears to be fully charged but is only running off the battery. Continues to beep 4x every 30 seconds. Only the power on/off button responds to being pressed. The reset button in the back does nothing. Mute button and doc w/finger button also has no reaction. What is happening and how can I fix this without having to purchase a new backup?

Complete the brain dead procedure and report back the results:

If the hardware is still under warranty I suggest you contact APC Technical Support.

You may use this APC Resource link to check if your hardware is still under warranty. The results are (Only) based on the serial number as such have your purchase receipt on hand for validation. โ˜๏ธ

Thank you for your reply Teken. Thank you for your direction. I do have contact with customer care as well which I need to supply them with the particulars.

I'm out of the warranty zone by a mile. I purchased in 2013 and it's been a great pc of equipment for my home office and worked like a charm up until now. I know your probably going to say, "it's time for it to be put to rest" but if I can get it to work properly, I'm all for it. If not, so be it. Trying to give it a chance.

I tried the brain dead procedure, followed the instructions and there isn't any difference in the unit. Still runs off the battery. I actually felt a little shock when I touched the back side of the unit.

If the system is connected to a computer system running APC Power Chute Software. Please upload the event, data, ups logs here for review.

Please upload a screen capture of the current operating state of the system. Specifically the page that shows the input voltage, frequency, and current load.

Nothing is happening pressing the left or right buttons from the on/off. So there is really nothing to show happening except the beeping every 30 sec and you'll see it running off the battery only. I'd like to upload a video but it's not accepting.

Power Chute (PCSS) Software only supports Windows & Linux. Regardless, you may consider adjusting the sensitivity of the unit to see if it makes a difference as outlined in the manual linked here:

https://download.schneider-electric.com/files?p_enDocType=User+guide&p_File_Name=BU+UM+990-3787C+MN0...

At a high level Iโ€™ll try to explain my intentions for the best outcome before you decide to retire the unit.

When the battery is replaced the installation date is updated via Power Chute Software. Doing so resets internal counters and adjust charging tables if applicable.

If you canโ€™t reset the battery installation date depending upon what firmware is installed the system will continue to cry and not work as expected.

Everything that follows hinges on being able to reset and update the battery installation date.

Once updated a Self Test is manually initiated. This is followed by a manual battery calibration with at least 30% attached load on the outputs.

When all three procedures are completed the system is at a itโ€™s peak ability to operate and reflect its operational state.

If you have the ability to bring the system to work or friends house that has a Windows / Linux system.

Please complete these steps and report back the results. If after doing so the hardware is still behaving poorly itโ€™s time to retire the unit and purchase a new one.

You may consider the APC Trade-UPS Program to receive a modest discount on the next purchase:
