Hey there, fellers!
We have an APC Galaxy 3500 installed in our serverroom.
For testing purposes, I installed the PowerChute Software on a testing-vm.
So far, so good, the software is installed, the communication seems okay, but i would like to test the shutdown signal on this particular VM.
Is there a way, without interfering the UPS treshhold and shutdown settings?
Thanks a lot already for your answers!
Sincerely,
Dominik

Dominik,
The NMC and PCNS do not offer a UPS off test feature. The best way to test the shut down is to configure PCNS to power down the OS when UPS has been on battery for 60 seconds and then switch the UPS to battery power. PowerChute will record when the UPS goes on battery and 60 seconds later will start the shutdown process. Once the shutdown process starts you can put the UPS back on AC.
This is the best way to test since it represents a real shutdown scenario.
