Hey all,
We have 12 symmetra RM systems and I have been tasked with doing a runtime calibration on them. No one is sure when the last time it was run and the systems are scheduled to be phased out next year and a new setup purchased, so they are not new.
When I do the runtime calibration on three of them they went down to about 5minutes of runtime left (ranging from 20%-30% battery). However on other racks (majority) it goes down to less then 10% and less then 2 minutes remaining before I lose my nerve and cancel the test. All the documentation I can find says its only supposed to go to 50% battery.
Is it normal for it to go so deep during the test? What happens if I let it keep going?
Thanks for any info
Brett

Hi korfu, the way the symmetra unit responds will depend greatly on the condition of the batteries. I am under the assumption that these units rae fairly old and the batteries have been replaced recently. The general premise is the older the batteries, the less runtime they will have, and the quicker they can discharge when the unit is running on battery. A battery calibration is typically not recommend to do unless you are having some type of runtime issue (usually in conjunction with a newly replaced set of batteries). If the charge drops to a point where it can no longer support the load, the unit should cancel the calibration and put itself into bypass (given there is still good input power). Hope this helps.
