Symmetra RM 6000 Flapping Errors

Seem to be having an odd issue with one of our Symmetra RM 6000's that no one in the office here can seem to figure out so if anyone can help I figure this would be the best place, right? πŸ™‚ . This has been happening for close to 3 months now that our UPS spits out these errors and seems to correct itself within a minute.

We've replaced the three PM's, swapped out the MIM and RIM from another one of our 6000's to no avail and firmware is also up-to-date. The load is currently sitting at 33% and we haven't seen any kind of spikes happening throughout the day. The UPS doesn't appear to reboot and nothing attached to it is effected when these errors happen. As far as I can tell everything is okay but it's a PITA when I get a notification at midnight that this is giving false(or what I think/hope are false) errors , tempted to turn off the notifications but just in case it does explode I'd like to know...

Output from the last 4 days:

01/18/2010 00:42:45 UPS: A runtime alarm threshold violation no longer exists.
01/18/2010 00:42:43 UPS: A redundancy alarm threshold violation no longer exists.
01/18/2010 00:42:43 UPS: Redundancy returned.
01/18/2010 00:42:43 UPS: A load (kVA) alarm threshold violation no longer exists.
01/18/2010 00:42:36 UPS: A discharged battery condition no longer exists.
01/18/2010 00:42:28 UPS: A runtime alarm threshold violation exists.
01/18/2010 00:42:27 UPS: The battery power is too low to support the load; if power fails, the UPS will be shut down immediately.
01/18/2010 00:42:27 UPS: The load no longer exceeds 100% of rated capacity.
01/18/2010 00:42:24 UPS: The load exceeds 100% of rated capacity.
01/18/2010 00:42:23 UPS: A redundancy alarm threshold violation exists.
01/18/2010 00:42:23 UPS: Redundancy lost.
01/18/2010 00:42:23 UPS: A load (kVA) alarm threshold violation exists.
01/16/2010 11:37:38 UPS: A runtime alarm threshold violation no longer exists.
01/16/2010 11:37:37 UPS: A redundancy alarm threshold violation no longer exists.
01/16/2010 11:37:37 UPS: Redundancy returned.
01/16/2010 11:37:29 UPS: A discharged battery condition no longer exists.
01/16/2010 11:37:20 UPS: A runtime alarm threshold violation exists.
01/16/2010 11:37:19 UPS: The battery power is too low to support the load; if power fails, the UPS will be shut down immediately.
01/16/2010 11:37:17 UPS: A redundancy alarm threshold violation exists.
01/16/2010 11:37:17 UPS: Redundancy lost.

Any help would be great in getting this resolved. Anyone had any experience or seen anything like this?

No, no faults, but the batteries haven't been replaced in some time (a good 5-6 years), was going to be the next thing I look into.

We did have a hiccup on the 18th but it was the only UPS out of five that dropped.

02/18/2010 01:36:03 UPS: No longer on battery power.
02/18/2010 01:36:01 UPS: On battery power in response to an input power problem.

I'll give the display a check this week and check it against one of the other 6000's configs.

Thanks again.

Excellent, thanks buzz, I'll run down this afternoon and give this a try.

We have three other RM 6000's in the data center that are running fine with no alarms so I'll see if they have anything configured and set this one to the same or just disable them altogether. Will reply if I see anything further next week.

Thanks again!

Week later and nothing on the alarm, looks like this did the trick. The rest of the team and I can now sleep at night knowing that nothing is going to explode (for now)

Thanks again for the help buzz

Same concept, only you have some thresholds for runtime on top of redundancy.

From the Symmetra's display, go to Setup > Alarms and this time change Runtime.

Are there any battery faults or anything though? Or did you have a power outage or something?

So, JUST when I thought everything was savvy, I log into our UPS this morning to see how it's doing:

02/22/2010 03:44:31 UPS: A runtime alarm threshold violation no longer exists.
02/22/2010 03:44:21 UPS: A discharged battery condition no longer exists.
02/22/2010 03:44:12 UPS: A runtime alarm threshold violation exists.
02/22/2010 03:44:12 UPS: The battery power is too low to support the load; if power fails, the UPS will be shut down immediately.

So it looks like the rated capacity/redundancy alarms have stopped but still seeing battery and runtime issues.

Any ideas?
