I have one of my Symmetra RM 6000 UPS's that has encountered a "system level fan failure". I have about 35 of these in service and this is the first time I've encountered this fault. I inspected the unit and found that the main chassis fan on the back of the chassis itself was not running. I ordered a replacement fan through my local APC source and installed the new, identical fan today. The new fan started right up, but the failure alert on my Infrastruxure Manager interface persists, as it does on the unit itself. I tried running a fresh self-test and even tried restarting the management interface, but the failure remains. Is there a fan in the chassis that I can't see (besides those contained in the Power Module) that is the cause of the ongoing failure, or am I missing some other reset mechanism? This unit also utilizes an SYTF2 step-down transformer, but there is no intelligence between the chassis and this unit to my knowledge. Any ideas?

I appreciate that thought. I just tried it, but still no difference. I'm still waiting for a new MIM to arrive to see if it sees things differently or not. I'll keep waiting....

Thank you so much for your response. I am checking with the vendor to see what the part number is that he sent. In the meantime, I will try the other things you suggest and go from there. My first response was to try rebooting the management interface, but that had no impact on the problem.

I checked with my vendor, and he verifies that that is the part number provided. I went in again, removed the fan, disconnected it, checked all the connections and everything looks fine. The fan is running just fine. I have rebooted the management interface several times, but to no avail. The remaining thing for me to try at this point is to put in another MIM, which I will do soon, as I have a ready spare in transit. After that, I don't know.

In my experience on some alarms I have to delete the device from Manager and re-add it.
