I'd like the ability to monitor readings that can be displayed on PowerView from my own computer. My computer will be directly connected to the UPS via network card and cat5 cable. What steps do I take to go about doing this?

Here are a couple of steps to follow:
1) Find out if your network connection on your computer is autosensing or not, best bet would be the manufacturer if you don't know. If it is not a standard cat 5 between two networked devices won't work and you'll need a crossover cable.
2) Create a small local network for the two devices. A simple way of doing something like this would be to assign your computer an address of ip 192.168.1.1, mask of 255.255.255.0, gw 192.168.1.1
Then on the symmetra set the ip to 192.168.1.2, mask 255.255.255.0, gw 192.168.1.1
3) At this point you should be able to launch a web browser from your computer and put in the the PX address. http://192.168.1.2
This will allow you to launch the card and browse it. Although it will work, I highly recommend putting the Symmetra on a main network to allow you to gain the benefit of alerts via SMTP or SNMP, as well as the capibility to do graceful shutdown of servers using PCNS.
