Symmetra PX Management Card - Manual IP Address

Hello all.

I am trying to connect our Symmetra PX 100kw to our management network using the network management card (0g-9354).

Initially, I configured the IP manually using the display. I connected the cable to the card and to the switch, but got no status lights on the switch port or the card. I switched and tested cables, rebooted the management interface with no fix.

I then connected a laptop to the card with a crossover cable and the status lights on the card immediately lit up. Once on the same subnet, I was able to get the the web interface.

Next, I set the card to connect via DHCP and connected it back to the switch. It was able to connect that way.

I still cannot get it to connect manually.

Anyone have any insight?

Thanks

Hi Nathan,

Can you clarify the color/flashing pattern of the two LEDs there should be near the RJ-45 jack? One we call specifically the status LED (has a checkmark and X next to it) and the other is the network link LED (says 10/100 next to it). I am interested to confirm that you say using a manual IP causes both LEDs to go off completely when using a manual IP address.

And when you do see LEDs, just want to know if they are green, amber/orange, solid or flashing, etc.

Lastly, if you can get into the card card right now when it is set to DHCP, could you get the event.txt and config.ini? Instructions here on how to do that if you need them - http://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA156131

Only other thing that comes to mind is that maybe there was a typo in the manual settings, such as subnet mask or something that cause it not to work but that does not explain both lights going completely off. If the NMC itself detects invalid settings (such as a subnet of 192.255.255.0 or something that is not possible, it should flash green on the status LED. But, if you have invalid settings for your network (but they are technically valid), then we should have a solid green LED.

Anyway, I can glance at the logs here and any more detail you have on LED colors and patterns and go from there. The files, if extracted via FTP, will also confirm the current firmware version. Else, you can find it under Administration->General->About in the web.
