I have a APC Symmetra PX 80kVA (SYCF80KF) with 9 Power Modules (SYPM10KF) as well as 2 Intelligence Modules (SYM1M4). Is there any way to test the power modules as it stands without any batteries connected? I have finally figured out how to locally remote with the Serial Cable (had to disconnect Display cord) but can not see any of the other modules. Any help with this topic would be very helpful.
Thank you,
Dru

Alrighty.
You have an AP9617 Network Management Card which is accessible via HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, telnet, ssh, etc. When you log in via serial cable, you have a menu driven interface. What you'd do if you do not want to just assign it an IP address is go to the device manager menu (option 1 and press enter) and in there it should say something similar to Symmetra PX 80K and you press 1 for that and then you'll be in the menu where most of the UPS information is. You just press the numbers for the options you want.
Alternatively, I'd recommend you just put an IP address on it quickly (even if temporarily just to view it easier and you do a direct connection with a crossover cable to the ethernet jack). From the main menu, go to network->TCP/IP and in there you can use DHCP, BOOTP, or manual IP settings and the menu will help you through it somewhat. This set up for TCP/IP settings is outlined here (refer to NMC1 instructions and you are already doing the local console/serial method): How do you make a Network Management Card communicate on a network? | FAQs | Schneider Electric US
When you log in via the web, its a bit quicker to navigate and check out your UPS status, voltages, etc and even maybe other stuff down the road (email notifications, SNMP, RADIUS, etc).
Let me know if you have any more questions based on that.
I forgot - I am not an expert on the UPS but once I can see the management card or walk you through what to look at once we look in the right spots, I can help you or get someone to help us further to see what state the UPS is in. Perhaps the output is commanded off or it is in bypass or something.

Hi again Dru
I can tell from what you've provided that there is no communication between your management card and UPS. The management card itself is fine though most likely so we need to figure out what is causing the communication loss (it could be the fact that UPS itself is completely dead as far as communications go because of the state it is in but I am not sure). That is why you see no UPS information. You also have older firmware that I'd like to update at some point.
Either way, I am a little out of my league with this UPS and the specifics to communication to the AP9617 based on what you've said so far and the screenshots I am seeing.
Would you be willing to contact our 3 phase UPS support via phone to have them check a few things with you that are specific to the UPS that could cause this?

Hello,
Could you clarify - are you logging into the Network Management Card (comes preinstalled in the management card) and finding some of the power modules say "inactive" or similar? Could you clarify? Have you accessed the web interface of the management card at all via IP? I ask because it'd be helpful to perhaps review the log files or provide screenshots so we could better understand the question.
If the UPS is turned on and outputting power while "online," regardless of your load, all of them should be operational.

Hi Angela,
I am logging into the "Computer Interface" module on the front of the APC unit. (See attached screen shots) ( & I am new to this product line and I am not familiar with the web interface and have not been able to find any information on it). When I log into to the unit, I do not see the power modules at all, not sure if I am looking in the right place or not. Also the fans are not running on the power modules, thought this may be due to not being hooked up to any batteries at the moment??? They are just stand alone units for now.
These were given to us and we would like to see if they are fully operational before we include them on our network.
Thank you,
Dru
