Hello,
We have a Symmetra LX (SYAF16KRMT) which is no longer listed in APC's site. I would like to replace the power module on our UPS but I'm not quite sure how to do so as I haven't been able to find a .PDF manual for this UPS.
On the battery module there is a screw that you untwist and when this is done the fan shuts off and you can slide the bar down to unlock the battery.
To the right of the battery on the actual UPS unit there is a on/off switch. If the switch to the right needs to be turned off, will this power off the plugs in the back? We have many servers attached to the back of this unit and would prefer that these do not go offline as they are in production. (See attached picture)
Could you please provide me with the steps of replacing the battery on this unit?
Thanks!
-G

Hello,
SYAF16RMT is the "frame" SKU and you wont find it on the website. The SKUs you'll find for Symmetra LX (and their user's guides) are located here -> http://www.apc.com/products/family/index.cfm?id=189
I think you're a little confused. The device with the fan is the power module. To disengage that, you undo the thumbscrew and push it down and it will disable the power module. When you try to pull it out, you need to lift up a bit to pull it over a "lip" and then you might need to do it the same at the halfway point as to not drop it on your feet. The items with the black knob labeled battery module is the actual battery module. That black knob turns the batteries on and off from the system so when they are off and left in the UPS frame, they do not discharge.
So, I am confused on what you're replacing - if its the item with the fan, that is the power module (SYPM4KP) with the thumb screw you undo and move up and down and if it has a black knob and ways ~70lbs, that is your battery module that you'll need to use the knob to turn on after you install it.
Here is a helpful video we have on Symmetra LX module replacement that I think can answer all your questions and show what I am talking about: http://tv.schneider-electric.com/site/schneiderTV/index.cfm?video=00am02MTrtVLOQi89yEdGIA31sfy8Efn#o...
